I love vintage things, especially cards and scrapbook pages that have that look. I rarely have time to do this type of craft so I tend to make simple cards that can be made quickly. I do appreciate people who have a knack for creating a vintage look. I saw this card on Kimberely Van Dipen's blog and knew I had to recreate it. I copied the template for the card but didn't add the layers that she did but I still love the result.
(***Megan-this is the card I made after our last session of Scrapbook University. So now you can see why I was so desperately looking for my Pretties Kit =)
Isn't it simply stunning? I just might make this my Christmas card this year. Even my husband really liked it. I have to say I am partial to red. So much in fact that my wedding dress was a deep red (are anniversary is New Year's Eve). So I love the crisp white with the pop of red. But the beauty of this card really is in the details...
Can you see the DSP? It is flocked! Beautiful, I know! It is the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Paper. I love it and will be going through quite a bit of it this year. I also added the hat pin and beads from our Pretties Kit. They add just the right amount of sparkle to make this card really pop.
RECIPE: Stamps-Medallion & Four the Holidays; Ink-Real Red; DSP-Christmas Cocoa Specialty; CS-Whisper White & Real Red; Ribbon-Organza Whisper White; and Embellishments-Pretties Kit (hat pin and beads).
My mom and I loved this template so much that we wanted to play with it a little more. So we decided to change up the color scheme a bit. So we went with a blue and white card. I think it is just as elegant as the first one.
If you have a card you really like, try recreating it with new colors, papers, or stamps. You might surprise yourself.
