Easter Blessings

I hope this post finds you with family and friends enjoying a wonderful, blessed Easter full of fun, laughter and remembering the true reason for this precious day!

Here is another card from March's Stamp Club and from a recent workshop.  I love the simple elegance of this card.  Sometimes I get so into adding and layering that I forget that simple can make such an incredible statement.  This is such an elegant stamp set.  The flowered image really doesn't need anything added to it.

 

We used pastels to color in the flowers.   I must admit that I rarely use our pastels, they do intimidate me just a little.  I think it relates to art classes in school where I tried, unsuccessfully, to create a beautiful masterpiece with pastels.  All I managed to do was make a blurred, smudged image that no one could make out.  Our Stampin' Pastels are incredibly easy to use.  We just touched a Blender Pen to the corner of the pastel and the pen picked up the color.  Than color your image just like you would normally with a blender pen.  It is that easy.  You also get all 48 colors and a selection of neutrals with the pastels.

Stamping With Wet Wipes

March's Stamp Club technique was the "Baby Wipe Technique".  This technique was so much fun to do that I even took it to one of my daughter's classes for them to do some stamping and card making.  I will share their project later this week.  This technique reminds me of tie-dye shirts although that could be due to the colors we used for our card.  I also love the fact that the look of the technique changes the longer the ink sits on the wet wipe.

Technical Delays

I am sorry there were no posts last week.  I am not sure what happened.  I scheduled posts but they didn't pop up.  So I am trying again and hopefully all the technical issues were solved.

I love the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set.  It is one of my favorite flower stamps because it is so versatile.  You can fill in the petals or just use the outline.  This is one of the first time I have used this stamp just to create an outline.  I love the modern look and feel it adds to this simple card.

Using the Catalog For Ideas

When the new catalog comes out I spend hours drooling over it.  I am a little addicted.  =)  But as the year wears on and I get familiar with it I don't spend as much time in it.  I even forget to look through its pages for inspiration.  Well this card is inspired by the card on page 44 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  It is only slightly different but the colors and templates are exactly the same.

So I am going to challenge you all this weekend:  Pick a card out of the catalog that you like, whether it is because of the stamps, colors or template.  Then make it.  Very simple.  If you have a blog and you take me up on this challenge, then post your creation and I will post a link to it on my post.  Or if you e-mail me a picture I will put it on my blog.  You may find a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) in your mailbox just for participating...

Easy Tearing Technique

You probably think I am crazy for posting a Valentine card in March.  I wanted to share all that I have been up to, even if it is a little outdated.  I made a lot of Valentine cards this year for workshops and classes.  This is a card I did as a make-n-take for a workshop in January.  I especially wanted to share this card with you so I could share an easy way to tear and roll your card stock.  I am always surprised at how many people are intimidated when it comes to ripping paper.  Personally, I love to rip paper, I am not sure what that says about me but I love the texture it adds to my projects.

 

Easy Tearing Technique:

1.  Wet your card stock where you want your rip to take place.  You can use a sponge, paintbrush or your finger to do this.  I prefer an AquaPainter just for convenience.  Make sure you wet both sides of the paper.

2.  Gently tear the paper.  This will be incredibly easy to do since the paper's fibers are now weak.  It will also give you a crisp tear line.

3.  For added dimension you can roll the edges of your torn paper.  Do this while it is wet.  When you are finished the card stock will dry and look like nothing ever happened to it.  Super easy!!

Friend To Friend

Whew, it has been awhile, hasn't it?  Sorry about that.  Life suddenly got crazy and it became impossible to keep up with blogs and everything else.  But I am back with lots of samples to share with you.  I must admit I have missed working on my blog and can't wait to get back into the swing of things.  I have also updated the sidebar of my blog with new projects and information.  I am currently working on my Spring schedule so check back tonight or tomorrow to check out all of the exciting classes and events coming up.  Thank you for your patience.

Today's card is from a recent Stamp-A-Stack.  I found the design in a card magazine (sorry, I can't find it to post the title).  I fell in love with the template and new I wanted to create the same look using SU! products.  This is not my usual style but I loved the simplicity of the card.  It is hard to see in the picture but there is a slight dot texture on the white card stock.

Cute Punch Crow Card

This card is another one featuring Stampin' Up!'s punches.  I saw this card on my upline's Sandy Hancock's blog.  It was just so stinking cute that I had to CASE it.  (CASE-to Create And Share Everything).  I couldn't wait until Stamp-A-Stack when I could share it with my customers.  I am not going to give a recipe for this card but if you want to know what was used than click on Sandy's blog and check out her list.

Since this crow is so adorable I really wanted to keep the card itself simple.  So we just textured the background using the Big Shot to add some visual appeal.

Pumpkin Punch

Stampin' Up!'s punches are wonderful products to have on hand.  There is so much that you can do with them.  I also love the fact that they coordinate so beautifully with so many of our fabulous, exclusive stamps.  Another great thing about our punches is all of the fun things you can create with them.  Today's card shows another great way you can use our Oval punches.

Pumpkin Punch Tutorial:

1.  Punch three ovals.  You can use any size oval-Small, Large or Wide-for this project.

2.  Sponge the edges of the ovals with the matching ink (Pumpkin Pie).  I do this to add depth to the pumpkin.

3.  Adhere two ovals to the back and side of the third oval.   

4.  Use a scrap of card stock to be the stem.

5.  If you want a Jack-o-lantern look to your card than the face for the Autumn Harvest stamp set is great.

Gifts of the Earth With Watercolor Pencils

This card was another one we did for a Stamp-A-Stack.  I don't generally find myself drawn to detailed stamps like this because of the time they can take to fill in.  Let's face it-when I have time to stamp I generally have to stamp fast.  =) I think I am going to have to start trying out more of these after this card.

We used Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper, watercolor pencils and blender pens.  I love each of these products because they allow me to quickly and beautifully fill in my lined images.  The watercolor pencils are so easy to use that anyone from the beginner to the most advanced stamper will love them.  Our watercolor paper is the perfect weight and can hold up even when saturated with water.  And the Blender Pens are just fabulous for so many different projects.
