Did you ever think that Halloween could be cute? I mean after all most of us think of all the creepy, ghoulish things about the day, right? Well I am here to prove you wrong. At last week's Stamp-A-Stack I decided to make a cute little treat box. With Halloween only a few weeks away I couldn't resist. (I know a Stamp-A-Stack technically means stamping cards but I love 3-D projects and couldn't resisit =).
We made this box with the Top Note Bigz Die. This die is exclusive to Stampin' Up! It is such a versatile die, I love it. Whenever anyone buys a Big Shot and asks me what die I recommend, this is the one. The possibilities are endless.
I told you it was cute!!
Here is a quick tutorial on Frankenstein:
1. Cut out 3 Top Note Dies--2 Green Galore and 1 Elegant Eggplant.
2. Cut the Elegant Eggplant at 1/3 of the way down. Cut across the die in jagged cuts to create the hair. The smaller piece will be the front hair and the longer piece will be the back of the head (the back of the box). Attach to Green Galore Top Note diecuts.
3. Punch half of the Round Tab Punch with Green Galore to create the nose. Sponge the edges with Green Galore Classic Ink to add some dimension. Attach to the Top Note diecut.
4. Punch 2 Whisper White 1-1/4" circles and 1 Green Galore 1-1/4" circle. Cut the green circle in half to be the eyelids. Punch 2 Black 3/4" circles to be the eyeballs. Attach to the face.
5. Using a black marker, draw the face and any scars on the back.
6. Attach the front and the back to the box base with sticky strip.
To Make the Box:
1. Cut a 8.5" x 11" piece of card stock in half at 5.5".
2. Cut that piece down to 5.5" x 7".
3. Using a bone folder and your paper trimmer, score in 1-3/4" on each side of the box.
4. Cut two slits on both 7" sides along the score lines. Only cut 1-3/4" (or until you reach the score line).
5. Adhere the box with Sticky Strip.
Don't get intimidated by 3-D projects. They really aren't as complicated as they may seem. Give one a try and you will probably be surprised.
