I love working with kids. Its probably why we have three of our own and I was a teacher until the end of this year. They are so creative and fun to be around. When I looked at the summer stretched out before my own kids I knew they would be bored, along with a lot of other kids. So I thought this would be such a fun opportunity to stretch creatively and come up with some fun kid friendly projects.
Today we made a BINGO game using the Jumble Letters, which I have yet to finish or take pictures of so you will have to wait for another post, and a mini-journal. I am calling this fun little Summer Journal a S'More Journal (you will see why in a minute). This journal is adorable and with the Big Shot, it is super easy to create (perfect for kids).
Now do you see why I am calling it a S'mores Journal? It kind of looks like one huh? I got this idea last night while trying to go to sleep, but it wasn't until this morning that I actually figured out how to make the book look like a s'more. I used raw chipboard for the covers because it kind of looked like a graham cracker. Than we glued Brown felt to the inside of the covers for the chocolate. The white pages are the marshmallows. The kids of course thought that was a great idea.
Here is the front cover of our little book. We used the adorable Under the Stars stamp set. I love this set, especially the "skeeter spray" stamp. I ran all of the pages, chipboard and felt through the Big Shot using the Top Note Bigz Die. Using the Big Shot to cut out all of the pages made this project a dream! (Look for something similar popping up at my Stamp-A-Stack on July 21st).
I stamped the pages in my journal and some of the kids did too. This would be a great little gift to tuck into your child's luggage if they were going to camp this summer. You can add photos to go with their journaling.
I had so much fun today with all six kids. I can't wait until next month's Kids Stamp Camp where we will be making back to school goodies.
